Venting Radiators

To prevent damages in the Central Heating System, it is important to vent your radiators frequently. If you want to do this, you will need a radiator key and a towel. To get the key, you can ask Gruno Verhuur. Not sure how to vent a radiator? Please check the following instruction:

  1. Turn on all the radiator and Central Heating System for 15 minutes;
  2. After 15 minutes, turn the Central Heating System down and close all the radiators;
  3. Start at the lowest located radiator (make sure the heating is off) and open the ventil with the key. Do this carefully and make sure you use your towel;
  4. If water starts running, you can close the ventil again;
  5. Repeat this for all the radiators in the house and make sure you will end at the highest located radiator.

If you are still not sure how to do this, check the following video of Energiewacht (in Dutch).

After the procedure, check the pressure of your boiler. The pressure needs to be between the 1 and 2 bar. Is the pressure too low? Then you need to refill your Central Heating System.
